What is the Doula?

The definition of a doula is a person trained to advise, inform, and offer emotional and physical comfort to a mother before, during, and after the birth of her child. The word doula comes from the Greek word doulē, the meaning of which translates to the female helper.

Rebirth: Pregnancy is a mystery and offers a new life for everyone. It’s the same process of being born from an egg to a fetus and as an infant, as everyone has experienced in the mother’s belly. People are rebirth over and over again in their life.

Durability: a symbol of durability and being able to endure various difficulties in life. The baby might seem gentle and small, but they can survive very hard conditions. Same time everybody naturally can get a lot of durability energy from the baby.

Purity: the Baby is purity all the time and never has a doubt. They have a pure heart that grows straight, absorbing the love of their family.

Affection: This flower is also a symbol of affection. Mother and Partner can gift Love and care deeply to baby and each other like a flower.

Strength: The ties between parents and baby seem gentle and easily breakable, this is not the case. Their ties are very durable and can withstand various conditions. Family ties can make you strength and power which means you will be a strong person for protection and the right support to your baby.

I love this tree, same time I strongly believe that children and parents support each other, stimulate each other, think and grow together.

About me

My name is SATOMI, I was born and raised in Tokyo, Japan, and undertook my undergraduate study in Tokyo. Before I immigrated to Australia in 2005, I worked in the Japanese Government. After my migration, I have worked for several international corporations in Australia. In 2016, I immigrated to Canada with my family.

I can fluently communicate in Japanese and English.

I have 3 sons. The first baby was born in a hospital in Western Australia.  The second and third babies are twins. They were born in a hospital in Canada. 

First and second birth experiences were not smooth at all. Also, information was not enough for every situation. After birth, I got postpartum depression. Overall, my birthing and postpartum experiences were terrible and very far from my dreamed pregnancy and postpartum time.

Therefore, I have understood that information, advice, and continual support by a professional person are important for a pregnant and a new mother.

In addition, when my sons were small, I studied Childcare. I have great knowledge and passion to work with babies and young children. I love setting up some fun activities or doing circle time with my children.

Lastly, my goal is to provide the new baby and parents a welcoming multicultural, and pleasant environment to learn, work and participate.
